Jammu and Kashmir Study Centre UK hosts event at UK Parliament to observe India's 'Sankalp Divas'.

The Jammu and Kashmir Study Centre UK (JKSC-UK) hosted a significant event, "Sankalp Divas," at the UK Parliament to commemorate the unanimous resolution passed by the Indian Parliament on February 22, 1994. This resolution reaffirms India's stance that the entire Jammu and Kashmir region, including areas under Pakistani control, is an integral part of India. The event saw participation from over 100 attendees, including British MPs, local councillors, community leaders, and members of the diaspora. Notable speakers included MP Bob Blackman, MP Theresa Villiers, MP Elliot Colburn, and MP Virendra Sharma. The event highlighted India's efforts in Jammu and Kashmir post the abrogation of Article 370, emphasising improvements in security and socio-economic development. Yana Mir, a prominent Kashmiri journalist and activist, received the Diversity Ambassador Award for her contributions to promoting diversity in the region. Mir spoke against misinformation and underscored the importance of recognizing the progress in Jammu and Kashmir, countering negative narratives about the region. The gathering underscored the importance of continued dialogue and accurate representation of the situation in Jammu and Kashmir in international forums.
